Today is Sunday, November 29, 2020, this is the last day of my thanksgiving break. today I will be talking about 3d printing, coding, a YouTuber I found, and my CS Class.

3D printing

I have had the ender 3 pro since August, and I have been very pleased with its print performance. It is the first 3d printer I have ever owned however I have used 3D printers at school, but the 3D printers at my school were $2,000-$10,000. I also had no idea what a slicer was and learned a lot about 3D printing from owning a 3D printer. Today I printed this fan cover for the fan on the power supply Wich we hopefully help keep the printer quieter. I am trying to make the 3D printer quite enough to print during an online class, but that might take a few more upgrades. I also printed this 3d printer test. I wanted to print a test now so when I upgrade my 3d printer I can print another one and see if and what improvements the upgrades made.

CODING

I Got a jeton nano and started following along with this tutorial a few weeks ago and just finished up lesson 42 in which I attempted to set up facial recognition on live video from a raspberry pi cam. I used the word attempted because my code does turn on the camera, capture 1 frame, and detect faces on it. Meaning I did get it to detect the faces but it freezes after only 1 frame. I believe the programming is freezing because I am getting a Gstreamer error that does not crash the program but does cause the camera to freeze so far I do not have a solution but I am going to keep googling and will post future updates.

Scott Yu-Jan

Scott Yu-Jan is a new YouTuber I recently discovered. He has around 22,000 subscribers and has only posted 6 videos. However, the videos are very high quality and very entertaining. He is what I would consider a maker. He lives in Seattle and was originally from Vancouver Canada. I am upgrading my 3D printer accordingly to his video. His most recent video is about a resin 3d printer he received from Creality. He talked about his homemade part cleaner and resin part curer.

My CS Class

I am taking AP com sci at my high school. In terms of Learning, coding our instructor assigned us the Carnegie Mellon Cs academy course, and I am not a fan of the course. One of the main reasons I am not a fan of the course is that half of the code you use is custom code that only works on the cmu website meaning a lot of the code is not useful after completion of the course also a lot of the times I have bugs or errors with the code it is with the cmu custom code and not the regular python code. Another reason is the pace of the course is very slow, to give a reference I have coded a solid 3+ hours a week since September and we just started talking about for loops and have not cover while loops or even print statements, Because of this I have felt the cmu course has turned what I originally did for fun into more homework or schoolwork.
